MEET DEANNA FROM FAITH HERITAGE AT HOME
Finding joy in stewarding the home; homemaking tips on all things motherhood, homeschool, and simple living.
HELLO, I’M DEANNA!
Before we begin, I want to tell you that writing has always been a deep passion of mine. It is my happy place. In the hustle and bustle of life and the uncertainty of the world we live in, I am here to share homemaking tips on all things motherhood, homeschool, and simple living. I do hope you stick around. The only way to make sure you don’t miss a beat is by joining my mailing list:
Welcome to Faith Heritage at Home, a place where I passionately share faith-based homemaking tips in motherhood, homeschooling / eclectic unschooling, and simple living. This is us.
My husband, Elisha, and I met senior year in high school 10 years ago and I have not looked back since. In just six years of marriage, we have lived in Alaska, had our first child, moved back home to the midwest, bought our first home, and had our second child. One day I dream of having a small homestead on a piece of land with mature trees, a hidden drive, and an acre or two, maybe three, for our kids to run and explore freely. A simple life.
ABOUT ME
I was born in New Jersey and raised in North Carolina until I was seven. Our family moved to the midwest and I have been here ever since.
I grew up in a town that was once thriving but had since turned to abandoned buildings, sketchy neighborhoods, and streets you had to drive 10 mph on to avoid the potholes the city never came to fix. But it was home. A home I hope to help thrive again one day.
I had a pretty good childhood. I have two older brothers, blessings of each of my parent’s lives before each other, and am the oldest of two girls from their 28 and counting years of marriage. My sister and I rarely acknowledged the three-year age gap and were the best of friends, with a few fights here and there.
I am a pretty deep thinker and have been since I was a child. I love poetry, literature, theatre, the arts, music, researching, and having deep philosophical conversations.
I have a passion for natural and simple living. At any given moment you will find me reading or watching videos about natural remedies, gardening, whole food and plant-based cooking, minimalism, and self-directing homeschooling. I’ve recently rekindled my love for reading books again.
I would love to learn pottery, how to play the violin, watercolor painting, horse riding, and archery.
A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
I was in the marching band in high school and played the saxophone. My favorite song to play was Here and Now by Luther Vandross.
I was on our high school track & field team as a hurdler, running in the 4×4, high jump, and just about whatever else the coach would throw me in because we were such a small team. It was challenging but so rewarding.
I want to write and publish a book one day.
I had a water birth with my second child (it was awesome). I would do it again in a heartbeat. But maybe I’d take a course or two for breathing techniques first, ha.
I spent 2.5 years living on a military post in Alaska when my husband served in the Army and we lived over 3000 miles away from home. Oddly, I miss it. The scenery was beautiful and seeing so much wildlife was amazing.
